Jan. 25, 2018 – Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa has been invited to speak at the Young Arbitrators’ Forum (YAF) of Paris’ International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) organized by Noerr LLP in Frankfurt themed: “Farewell 2017 – The year in review“.

Tasked with reviewing international investment arbitration, Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa will focus in particular on the jurisdictional decisions rendered by six tribunals in the proceedings brought by Ukrainian investors against Russia under the 1998 Russia-Ukraine BIT in connections with their investments in Crimea.

In pursuing the spirit of the program, the interview aims at converging the fields of business and law, by letting future managers getting acquainted with international law experts and their work since the time of their studies.

Jun. 15, 2017 – Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa has been invited at the 5th Biennial Conference of the Asian International Economic Law Network, hosted at the Law School of prestigious Xiamen University (Fujian) on 15-17 June 2017,under the eminent organizing auspices of Prof. Junji Nakagawa (Tokyo University; to the right in the picture) and Prof. Huaqun Zeng (Xiamen University; to the left in the picture).

Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa will present his research on: ‘The case of China and ASEAN practice on objective criteria and ratione legis condition in the definition of investment‘.

Participation to this academic gathering is particularly significant, as attended by several key experts in the field on International Economic Law in East and Southeast Asia.

[ACADEMIA] May 19, 2017 – Speaking for the 60th anniversary of the EU Treaty of Rome (Hong Kong)

May 19, 2017 – Professor Vaccaro-Incisa has been invited to speak at the conference “The 60th annivrsary of the Treaty of Rome – EU and global perspectives”, hosted by the EU Office in Hong Kong and Macao at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on May 19-20, 2017.

Building on the presentation offered earlier this month in occasion of the Asia FDI Forum III, Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa will speak on “Investment treaty practice in US, PRC, ASEAN and EU: is someone playing out of tune?“. [ACADEMIA] May 12, 2017 – Speaking at CUHK’s Asia FDI Forum III (Hong Kong)

May 12, 2017 – Professor Vaccaro-Incisa has been invited to speak at the this edition of the renowned Asia FDI Forum, hosted by Professor Julian Chaisse and prestigious Chinese University of Hong Kong, this year focusing on the topic: “China-European Union Investment Relationships: Towards a New Leadership in Global Investment Governance?”. Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa will speak on “China, the US and the EU: closer than ever to uniform standards on international investment law?”. Conference website and program may be found here.

The Forum takes place just before China’s “Belt & Road Forum”, organized on May 14-15 in Beijing. The two fora see the exchange of several participants.

[PUBLICATION] Apr. 2017 – Santa Clara Journal of International Law Article publishes Vaccaro-Incisa’s take on Crimea’s change of effective sovereign

Apr. 10, 2017 – The last issue of the Santa Clara Journal of International Law (Issue 2, Volume 15) features an article authored by Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa on “Crimea’s Secession from Ukraine and Accession to the Russian Federation as an Instance of North(- West) v. South(-East) Divide in the Understanding of International Law“.

The article attempts to offer an interpretation of the existing international law aimed at reconciling seemingly known facts with the non-concurrence of about half of the members of the United Nations to the adoption of the General Assembly Resolution on the “Territorial integrity of Ukraine” (GA Res. 68/262, adopted on Mar. 27th, 2014).

A preliminary draft of the article was presented at the opening session of the 2015 ESIL annual research forum (14-15 May 2015, European University Institute, Florence) and an advanced draft presented at the roundtable on Humanitarianism and the Transformation of International Law (4-5 Aug. 2016, Melbourne Law School).

Feb. 3, 201DSC04125 copy7 – Within the framework of the International Law Lectures organized by Threefold Legal Advisors under at the auspices of the European Society of International Law (ESIL), Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa has been invited to speak at Moscow State University on the topic “Investment Arbitration: Evil or Scapegoat? New Trends in Investment Treaty Making.

CETA TallinOct. 27th, 2016 – Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa will speak at the annual meeting of the Global Legal Network of Jurists organized at the Tallin University of Technology around the theme “Impact of Legal Risks on the Effectiveness of EU Law”.

Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa will present his preliminary research findings on the evolution of the EU investment treaty practice, between arbitral decisions and a changing political environment.
